Just So You Know...

Just a note to say I am very weary with the problems I continue to have with Blogger. These issues have been on-going for at least 3 months. I spend hours trying to get photos related to my posts to load into Blogger but have no luck whatsoever! I am inevitably left with a very sour taste and have little interest in blogging or in posting text without the accompanying photography. There have been beautiful flowers in the garden I could not share and wildlife strolling around our property. It took me weeks to get the Oregon post to load properly. I have no patience with these Blogger problems and have gotten no assistance from Blogger other than confirmation they are working on the issues. I may try to find a different host when I have more energy to direct there or close the blog entirely. The fun of posting has been lost in these efforts and frustration. :(

Oh Sky, I am so sorry. Your photos are so very beautiful and are an integral part of the beauty of your blog so I understand your frustration.

But I hope you don't close the blog. I always look forward to your posts.

Take some time away from it maybe. Several people I know have switched to Typepad Blogger problems. Others have gone to the new version of Blogger, Beta Blogger.

There are other options. But you will know what to do. Follow your heart and whatever you decide I wish you well.

I am so sorry to hear of your frustrations. I certainly have missed your posts.
I am finding the new beta blogger to be a lot better. Loading both posts and pictures are a lot quicker.
If you do some searching on it, you will certainly hear a lot of complaints about it, but I am finding it to be very good and I'm enjoying the new features! I had to change my template, but I was ready to do that anyway.

YES say it for all of us!!!
How I miss your posts... I have found real joy in each one and look daily to see if you have posted again - yet I have spent hours in front of the computer while blogger spits out my photos --- after a bit I am ready to learn to fly without using an airplane or take up cleaning my bathroom or even ????

Your posts are among those highlights of my blogging experience that I would sorely miss if you stopped. While I have posted occasionally with Blogger, usually I have always hosted photos at a site specific to photos. Currently I'm using flickr and have been very happy with it. But people tell me that Picassa is, like Blogger, owned by Google and is an excellent site. So I would urge you to upload your photos to a photograph-hosting site and hopefully the problems you've so frustratingly experienced will be a thing of the past. xo

What a nuisance that troubled technology us interfering with your creativity and our enjoyment of it.

dont use blogger for uploading the photos. you can register to a free file storage portals like myfilestash.com or photobucket.com

these sites allow you to store ur photos and u can get the img URL for each file u store. now, in blogger, instead of uploading the photo, enter this img URL in "Enter a URL" field next to the 'Upload' field.

it shud work fine. and u dont have to depend on blogger for ur wonderful images.

I love your photographs, and the garden that provides so many of your subjects. Blogger is very frustrating to use during peak periods even to post an entry without photos. Wordpress is said to have fewer problems.

I am sooo sorry about your failed efforts. Stifled creativity is very exhausting. I hope that you can find a way. Thus far blogger has been only minimally irritating for me. I lose the rare post and rare photo. Take a break and maybe you and blogger will be renewed.

Sky, I'm sorry it's been so frustrating for you. Your photos are gorgeous and deserve to be seen. It should be relatively effortless!

As others have done, you could move the blog to another service like Typepad... or you could host your photos elsewhere for free (flickr, photobucket, etc).

Maybe pick the brain of someone whose blog you read, who uses lots of photos successfully? (I haven't had much trouble, except during Blogger's particularly buggy phases, but then I don't post lots of photos.)

That's a shame. Perhaps you should try WordPress. I use it and it is free. You may need help installing it, but after that it's pretty easy to use. Quite similar to Blogger.

Oh Sky, I miss your garden! But I do understand how frustrating it can be when you put so much time into a post and it doesn't work.

Maybe you do need to try another server--when your ready, of course. Till then, I enjoy reading the comments you scatter in some of my favorite places.

Well, for the first time, yesterday and today, I had trouble uploading photos. I sympathize with you. So frustrating when it just sits there and does nothing. The solution seemed only to lie in waiting a while and trying again — nothing I did made a difference.

I'm hoping you'll post more, somehow!

Your photos are amazing. I very much hope you are able to continue posting them. When I switched to Blogger Beta I had posting issues and finally had to switch photo editing software and the problem (for now) has resolved itself. I hope that you find a solution soon.

It certainly is frustrating when you want to blog, and it feels as though all is conspiring against it. I hope the problems have been fixed by now. Have you signed up for beta blogging? I think it works better.

Hope you come back soon!

It's my first time here, and I would really like to see more of your photos, too. As a few others have mentioned, joining something like photobucket.com makes it really easy to upload photos. Just upload them and some coding is generated that you simply copy and paste into your posts. That simple!

Then, joining a service like TypePad you have more control over the whole process and it's very easy to configure. You can also join a service similar to Blogger, wordpress.com, which uses the WordPress blogging software.

And last would be to host your own site, by getting a webhost (I use Site5), uploading a software package like WordPress (which is free, and I think of all the 15 different blogging packages I tried, the easiest and to use and most versatile), and then just doing all the photo work yourself. By choosing your own host you can also control the power of your connection a lot better. Plus it is less subject to the huge amount of traffic that Blogger must deal with.

I started with Blogger quite some time ago, but found hosting my own site gave me a lot more freedom and options.

Anyway, opening your site and seeing that blue background wash down the screen was quite a treat!

Yes...blogger can by so frustrating! Have you thought of Typepad? Some bloggers have switched.

I have a good luck with mine so far (knock on wood) but know loads of people that haven't.

Did I ever tell you that I love your name? xoxo

Sky - I miss you and obviously I have been so remiss and busy I haven't visited for a while - you are in my thoughts = Hugs from me.

Sky,
Your creativity deserves a more powerful publishing platform. Please consider Typepad.

I have been using it since 2003 and it allows me to position and size images with no more difficulty than entering text.

I believe that you may be able to import your Blogger archives and give yourself a new start.

Best regards...

The photos here are out of this world. And the whole tone of the blog page is wonderful. Did you give up on it?
